“One of a kind”
The Aquaspace has a rich history and definitely is a “One of a Kind” in the world. Designed and built in France between 1978 and 1982 by Jacques Rougerie, a passionate architect, sailor and diver. Rougerie was the first captain following his dream “a floating Aquarium” that could sail the oceans. The boat first served as a Centre of Marine Biology Studies and in that capacity did research into underwater wildlife including turtles and dolphins. During its glorious days, in the 80’s, another Jacques joins the story; Captain Jacques Cousteau. Cousteau and Rougerie worked together on several projects in the Caribbean Sea before the boat came to Bonaire in 1995. Nowadays the Aquaspace is enjoyed daily by tourist to enjoy sailing trips.
